Krężelok, Pw. [Paweł?]

?-?

maker of bagpipes (&c.) mentioned by name

No details known; Katarzyna & Maciej Szymonowiczowie mention that "The museum in Czeski Cieszyn [Český Těšín] has a Gajdy in its collections, with a little card, stuck in the corner of the róg zadni. Its German text reads: "Dudelsack gamacht [sic; gemacht?; ws] von Pw. Krężelok Istebna (Skotniorek) 50 RM gesamt [?] Jan Walach Kunstler" [Bagpipe made by Pw. [Paweł?] Krężelok of Istebna (Skotniorek), 50 Reichsmark total [the total cost of the instrument?] Jan Wałach artist]. From the information included in the record sheet of the instrument and [written?] on the Gajdy, it appears that the instrument was made in the 1940s, and that the museum had purchased it, for the aforementioned amount [today’s rate?; ws], on March 14, 1953, from artist Jan Wałach of Istebna; NB: Note the discrepancy between the mentioned date of purchase and the currency paid [The "Reichsmark" had already been officially replaced by the Deutsche [German] Mark in June 1948; ws].

Instrument: Gajdy śląskie
