Małyjurek, Andrzej
?-? [18th-19th century]bagpipe maker, also a piper (or vv.) (&c.), mentioned by name
Born at the end of the 18th century or at the beginning of the 19th century in Jaworzynka [SW of Istebna], he was the great-great-grandfather of Pavel Zogata "Gajdek" (CZ); According to tradition, he was the first gajdosz in the Małyjurek family; There is not much detailed information about him, but we know, above all, that he was making Gajdy; Around 1840 he built an instrument, on which his son Jura played at the end of the 19th century; In the 1950s Pavel Zogata played on it; In his unpublished master thesis »Gajdošský rod Zogatů« [The pipers family Zogata] (Ostrava Unversity, 2004), Petr Kuřil states that "Andrzej’s Gajdy is only preserved in parts, but, currently, even Paveł Zogata’s son Vladislav (*1931) doesn’t remember where the instrument is".
