Lauder, Maggie

?-? [17th century?]

female piper (&c.) mentioned by name

According to Ritson "a famous piper of the highland pipe", but I was unable to find any biographical details (or even any proof of her existence as a living person); The only source seems to be a song, the author of which, according to Wikisource, "is generally said to be Francis Semple, Esq. of Beltrees in Renfrewshire, who lived about the middle of the 17th century"; NB: ➺ Survey of female pipers.

Instrument: Highland bagpipe
