"He who pays the piper calls the tune"

Expression (maxim), meaning that the person who provides the money for something decides (or has a right to decide) what will be done; Usually shortened into "He who pays the piper..." (which is the version I heard most; ws); NB: ➺ "Pay the piper, call the tune".
