"Gotuj mięso i dudy, zawsze dudy wyjdą na wierzch"

"Cook meat and lungs, the lungs will always come out"; NB¹: Sobieska suggests the possibility that "there was a transfer of the folk name to the instrument, the most significant feature of which, after all, is the air reservoir that acts in a similar way as the lungs" (➺ Dudy*), which I consider a very plausible hypothesis. NB²: ➺ "Chłopie, za twoje trudy masz łeb i dudy".
