Romanella (f)

(with) definite article: la
(the) little Roman
Identical types: 43

Very small type, made in various dimensions, smaller than a Romana, without a key (!); Castagna./Morello refer to the now [i.e. 2020; ws] extinct Romanella media & piccola, which they define as "used semiprofessionally, didactic for the younger ones" (➺ p.23, 24).

Key: A or B♭; NB¹: In Castagna/Morello an instrument in B♭ is defined as a Romanella della 2½ palmi (➺ p.18); Key of the Romanella piccola: C (➺ p.[17]); NB²: Even though the first instrument mentioned in table I (p.[21]) is a Romanella in Mib [i.e. E♭], they fail to provide us with an explanation for this oddly deviating feature.
