Symphoneia (f)

original: ? [συμφωνεία?]

Identical types: 42

Spelling in Kuhač, who informs us that "They [i.e. bagpipes, to which he refers as "the forerunners of the organ"] are already mentioned by the prophet Daniel, who considers them to be a Babylonian musical instrument, and calls them symphoneia or symphonica"; Kuhač states, however, that "Without any doubt the bagpipe didn't exist among the ancient Greeks, because the name symphonia was not given to just one [particular] musical instrument, and there is no mention anywhere of a musical instrument with a bag”.

Symphonia, Symphonica, Symphonija
