DegerPipe II

electronic bagpipe by brand or trade-mark

Identical types: 19

Electronic bagpipe, produced by Manfred Deger (Karlsruhe, Germany); Its shape is (more or less) based on that of the chanter of a Scottish Highland bagpipe; According to the website it offers the choice between sounds and fingerings of several types of bagpipes (Highland bagpipe, Mediaeval bagpipe, Gaita galega and 2 varriations of Highland smallpipes), a wide range of keys (i.e. musical scales), including stepless adjustments for precision tuning, fine-tuning of the drones to one's preference, selecting from fundamental, fourths, or fifths; The pitch is adjustable in a range of more than three octaves, which enables playing together with other instruments in any key...; NB¹: According to Ian Clabburn, the "Deger 2+ electronic pipes" (a variant of the DegerPipe II Classic) has the fingering systems of the Schäferpfeife, French Cornemuse (half closed ith 2nd thumb hole), Gaita Gallega [sic], Medieval [no source stated], Hummelchen [sic]/Dudey (baroque recorder), Scottish Highland Bagpipes & Smallpipes (with 2 variants); : the NB²: ➺ Electronic pipes (Sources).

The instrument has the same size and finger spacing as a long Practise chanter [for a Scottish Highland bagpipe] (which in my opinion is not always an advantage; ws); A metronome is integrated within the chanter, and the drones volume is variable and can also be switched off; Independently adjustable volume controls for chanter and drones provide personalized sound dynamics; Headphones allow the freedom to practice discreetly, and the instrument can also be connected to an amplifier for stage performances.
