Drone position

No identical types known (yet).

The manner in which a drone is held during playing; The position of some drones can vary, depending on the taste of a piper, or on the circumstances; If crowded, for example, the pendulous position of a usually laterally held drone is preferred, in order to prevent a dancer or bystander getting injured (or the drone "swept" out of position, thus hampering the piper to continue playing); NB: ➺ Totaro of the Zampogna di Panni (Italy) and Bas of the Dudy wielkopolskie (Poland), both of which show exceptional positions!
