Lived and worked at first in Newcastle upon Tyne, moved (probably 1802) to North Shields; Father of James and Elizabeth, he is considered, without doubt, the finest maker of Northumbrian smallpipes; He increased the number of keys to 14; His father, Robert Reed [sic], a cabinet maker, was possibly also a pipemaker; NB: ➺ Thomas (Tom) Clough.
