bagpipe maker, also a piper (or vv.) (&c.), mentioned by name

Born in Scapoli (prov. Isernia) in the year his parents had returned from the USA; From childhood he learned making bagpipes and reeds from his father, Benedetto; A farmer, he also played the pipes at Christmas time; He made his bagipes in his father’s workshop; In 1939 he was sent to Albania to serve as a "carabiniere" [Italian military policeman; ws], and returned in 1945; Having thought, in the early 1970s, of organising a "Festival Internazionale della Zampogna" at Scapoli, we owe it to him and Pasquale Vecchione, at that time mayor of Scapoli, that the 1st Mostra - Mercato della Zampogna was held in 1975; Since then it’s an annual event; His son Umberto (* ?) continues the family tradition.
