Most probably from Latin "ǔter" [goatskin/leather bag; wineskin; NB¹: ➺ Otre; Term for the bag of the Piva di Mossale. NB²: It is conceivable that the initial "L" is a remnant of the definite article (which was introduced when the term entered the Italian language area); NB³: ➺ Ludri (Friuli-Venetia Giulia); and Ludro (Croatia).

Made of sheepskin, with the fleece inside.
