Zaj qeej (gender unknown)
traditional solo piece for a particular instrument
A traditional playing genre of the Qeej, with text; It is divided into 2 parts: Zaj kab ke and Zaj ua ke; In rituals (funerals, ancestral rites, weddings, &c.) it is always followed by the textless Ntiv qeej; According to internet source, the Hmong term "Zaj" is in this context definitely connected with "song" or "poetry" (if not exactly translated as such); Unfortunately, Catlin fails to mention such interesting linguistic information.
