Born in Powburn; The family moved to West Hedgeley in 1865; Youngest son of Robert (who had 5 girls and 7 boys); Piper to 3 Dukes of Northumberland (1892-1931), he also played on the occasion of the King’s visit in 1906; Other players at that function were Henry and Tom Clough, and Richard Mowat; NB: ➺ Grace Gray.
