Born in Kasaplar (Nowadays part of Dibič [SE of Šumen]); One of the "old" masters; Penultimate descendant of 7 generations of craftsmen making bagpipes and kavals [end-blown flutes; ws], he was preceded by his great-great-grandfather Mihal, his grandfather Mihal (nickname: "Gajdardžijata" [the piper]), and his father Stan’o (who brought his family to Šumen in 1864); His son Dimitǎr, whom he taught the craft, succeeded him, but he, in turn, doesn’t seem to have had any successor to continue the line…; NB: ➺ Balkanska gajda.
