Born in a nowadays uninhabited fraction (Casellina?) of Cabella Ligure (Borbera valley, prov. Alessandria); He settled in the main street of Cantalupo Ligure [NNW of Cabella Ligure], where the workshop of Ferdinando Cogo (1830-1897) was, who certainly provided him with the instrument; He also went to play in other villages.
