Arixi, Domenico
?-? [19th century]piper (&c.) mentioned by name
[Born and?] lived in Ussana [ENE of Monastir (in Sardu: Muristenis), Trexenta area, prov. Cagliari]; In 1835, when the young people of Pirri [now a district of Cagliari] were preparing a feast, some of them suggested Arixi, but others were against it, claiming that he had been hired by the youth of Pirri a few years before, but had played for the "zerachia" [bachelors] of neighbouring Monserrato, instead, and that they considered him not only proud and turbulent, but also not very faithful to his commitments; The Prefect of Cagliari, taking the dangerous tension into account, didn’t want to risk possible fights between the two groups, and tried, in vain, to achieve an understanding between the most strenuous supporters of the opposing positions, and then forbade the two players to perform at Pirri, proposing to call a third; NB: ➺ Giovanni Mascia.
