Waszut, Michał

?-? [19th century]
nickname(s): "Chrómy"

piper (&c.) mentioned by name

Born in Istebna [S of Wisła] [?]; A tailor by profession, he made mountaineers’ attire; He was also a piper and violinist; He lived in a large cottage in Istebna-Wojtoszach, where "śkubaćki" [➺ Bernadeta Marekwica; ws] took place; He played together with Jan Kawulok "uod Wojtosza"; Katarzyna & Maciej Szymonowiczowie, however, assume that he is the piper who appears, in all photographs, at the side of Jan Juroszek "Przigóniok", and assign Jan Kawulok’s nickname ("uod Wojtosza"), without any explanation, to a Michał Waszut (a gajdosz, and probably the same person as our subject).

Instrument: Gajdy śląskie
