Heteroglot (also Heteroglott) (adj.)
Term used for single beating reeds, the tongue of which is attached to a slotted base and therefore replaceable, if damaged; Heteroglot(t) reeds are used in the chanters of western Slavic bagpipes (Bock, &c.), also (but not exclusively) in the Cornemuse landaise (Gascony, France), and in the drones of some western European bagpipes; ➺ Idioglot and Violioglot.
Its base is made of a metal, wooden, or plastic slotted tube (sometimes even cut from a ballpoint pen), stopped at the top with cork or other material.
