From »Kayserliche Confirmation der Artickel deſs Instrumental-Musicalischen Colegii in dem Ober- und Nieder-Sächsischen Creiſs, und anderer interessierten Oerter«, ratified December 15, 1653, by Emperor Ferdinand III (1608-1657); According to Wustmann "a small bagpipe type"; Gehler’s quotation of the text of the emperor’s decree (in which the use of "Sackspfeiffen, Schaaffsböcke, Leyern, &c." is explicitly banned) is followed by his remark that "supposedly the pipers of a Court (perhaps of Saxony) were provided with a magnificently decorated [new] type of bagpipe", which is misinterpreted by Przerembski as "probably one of the names of a new type of bagpipe (Bock) spreading in Germany and played, by the emperor’s rule, at the Saxon Courts"; NB¹: ➺ Sackspfeiffe; NB²: ➺ similar terms.
