Surdulina

Term used by Carmine Salamone; NB¹: ➺ homonyms.

1 piece only; Scaldaferri fails to provide us with information regarding its bore; Sizes equal to those of the Manca; The range of its plagal scale (noted in G, but the actual pitch can be slightly higher or lower) is g¹-a¹-b¹-c²-(c♯²)-d²; Scaldaferri fails to offer any explanation of the discrepancy between his statement that this chanter "produces a range of 5 notes [tones!], that remains unchanged among all the performers and all the instruments examined", and his ex. 6 (with 6 notes, one of which he seems to consider optional [See my remarks on the dubious use of that term (➺ Manca [details])]).
NB: Example(s) to be replaced with staff-notation.
