Type without chanter key; Less frequent than keyed instruments; At home in the "alta valle dell’Aniene" [upper Aniene valley], it is the same instrument as the one played in Abruzzo and Molise; According to Leydi, "The rich iconography […] shows that until the end of the last [i.e. 19th; ws] century the Zampogna zoppa was the only type in the Latium area"; Now extinct, it had features that were different from those of the Zampogna a chiave, such as single, instead of double reeds, and the more vertical position of the chanters and drones in the stock; According to Leydi its size numbers were 25 (B♭) and 28 (E); According to Ricci, however, the most current are 25 (A♭ [A]), 28 (G♭ [G]) and 30 (E [F]) "normale" [i.e. medium size] and "doppie" [large size, pitched 1 octave lower]; ➺ Sardellina, and Scupina (Abruzzo).
