Ventil (m)

original: вентил

valve

tube through which the bag of a mouth-blown bagpipe, &c. is inflated

Identical types: 98

Term only used in the Levač region [central town: Rekovac].

Made of ox-horn; Below the base of its stock a wooden plug is wrapped in a fold in the bag, in order to secure its slightly backward and downward position (i.e. towards the mouth of the piper); NB: Any attempt, including mine, to describe this construction (➺ the English version in Vukosavljević) substantiates the adage "A picture is worth a 1000 words".
