According to Podnos, who refers to János Manga, »Hungarian bagpipers« (1965) as his source, the name of a bagpipe in Sobrance [E of Michalovce] in the Košice region; Meaning "small piper", it is, however, the name of a village (Slovak name: Gajdoš [i.e. piper]) mentioned in a list of place names associated with the former Austro-Hungarian Ung (var)megye [Ung County, now located in Hungary, Slovakia, and Ukraine; former capital: Ungvár, today’s Ужгород (Užhorod, Ukraine)].
