According to the text in the Atlas..., the instrumenet is "named after the renowned late 19th century piper, Bliadze. [Full name?]; In a Russian music encyclopaedia (Е.А. Яных [E.A, Yanyh]: Словарь музыкальных терминов [Dictionary of musical terms]; issued in Донецьк [Donetsk (Ukraine!)] in 2009, the term (Блиадзе1ствири [sic]:) is defined as "одно из названий грузинской волынки по имени выдающегося исполнителя – Блиадзе" [one of the names of the Georgian bagpipe named after the outstanding performer – Bliadze]).
