Nizalki (gender unknown) (plural, or plurale tantum?; singular unknown)

plural: = singular?; (with) definite article: Nizalkite

original: низалки(те)

(the) strings

decorative fringe(s), tassel(s), &c. dangling from any of the pipes, &c.

Identical types: 16

Dangling from the Rokče, this string of large beads is not just a decorative element, but it is also said to be an essential and important element for the magical interpretation of the bagpipe. Džimrevski states, however, that most of the bagpipers told him that the beads serve as a more beautiful appearance of the bagpipe, i.e. "to decorate it", but very few spoke about their real and ancient function.

Dzundzurki, Gjerdančinja, Kiski, Ukrasi
