Drone
plural: DronesOriginally: "a continuous low dull sound"; Organ-point; Generic term for all pipes producing a fixed and continuous tone; Quite often it is the only drone, but as one of a set it can be indicated after its pitch, In relation to that of the tonic of the chanter (e.g. c²): bass (C), baritone (c), tenor (c¹), soprano (c²), or sopranino (c³).
Consisting of 1-4 pieces (depending on its size), a drone can have some kind of bell, or even only an internal resonance cavity in its extremity.
