According to Ricros, who unfortunately fails to specify its spread, "a local name" (NB¹: Note the discrepancy in spelling!); NB²: Though bladder pipes are often played with the bag held between the arms (against the breast), the photo in Ricros shows a boy playing the instrument in the usual position of a common bagpipe; NB³: The term is also mentioned in Simon-Jude Honnorat, »Dictionnaire Provençal-Français ou Dictionnaire de la Langue d'Oc, ancienne et moderne, suivi d’un vocabulaire Français-Provencal..., volume 3 (Digne [= Digne-les-Bains?], 1847), in which it is defined as a synonym of "vessie" [bladder]; NB4: ➺ Petarola.
