Bālūṣ (also Ballūṣ / Ballūṣi) (gender unknown)

(with) definite article: ?
plural: ?; (with) definite article: ?

original: ?

?

term used for single reeds, the tongue of which is cut into their base; If damaged, such a reed has to be replaced entirely; If cut directly in the tube(s) of so-called "primitive clarinets", replacement is impossible, of course

Identical types: 7

Oddly, Elsner/Jabès refer to these terms as "Anblasstücke" [blowing pieces], but on the basis of their definition in relation to their description of the 8 other parts of the instrument I'm convinced that they can safely be interpreted as general terms for the single reeds (which in German are commonly called "Einzelrohrblätter"); NB: ➺ Rayyis, Anaglot and Kataglot.
