No record of his birth being found, his birth date has been deduced from his recorded age at death; When he married, 1752, he was registered as "William Lamshaw of Ponteland", meaning that he lived there at the time; Piper to the Duchess of Northumberland (1775-1798), he was succeeded by his grandson, "young" William.
