Mariani, Carlo

*1952

piper (&c.) mentioned by name

Born [and lives/lived?] in Cave (prov. Roma, Lazio); Brother of Alberto, together with whom he attended, in the 1970s, Dionigi Burranca’s school; He published, in 1999, a method (»Suonare le launeddas«); In »Launeddas« (a cura di Giampaolo Lallai), Giacomo Serreli states that he has made, "to this day" [i.e. 1997; ws], the most innovative use of Launeddas with the band "Tanit"; Having heard only 1 recording (of the composition "072"), I’m not impressed by such "innovation", in which a traditional instrument is added to a 20th century band, but its sound drowned by the electric guitar of composer [and probably band leader] Massimo Nardi.

Instrument: Launeddas / Launeḍḍas / Launedda [sic]
