According to Jan Stęszewski, who prepared Mierczyński’s manuscript, an incorrect name for Dudy, though it seems to be a Hucul term [➺ NB¹], used in Bystrec’ (Бистрець [Polish: Bystrzec]), a village SSW of Dzembronja (Дземброня), in the Verhovyna (Верховина [Polish: Żabie]) district [SSW of Kolomyja (Коломия)], southern Ukraine; Nowadays the name is only used for a Ukrainian lute (Кобза [Kobzà]; ➺ Cobza [Poland]); NB¹: ➺ my remark regarding the Huculs in Dutka; NB²: ➺ homonyms.
